Out of Luvvvvvvvv….

Well, that didn’t take very long.  11 inches and I’m bored.  No infatuation here.  Just lots of counting on Row 3…174 stitches,  Your pattern?  K6, K2tog 3 times, YO1 K1 6 times, K2tog 6 times, etc. until you get to last 9 stitches, then K2 tog 3 times, and K6.  And over, and over, and over.  Row 1 & 4 are K and Row 2 is K4, P until last 4, K4.  Easy.

So why is it, when I confidently set myself a goal, such a finishing a meager 35 inch baby blanket in 3 weeks, that I become become rebellious and stop knitting all together?  Is it the deadline?  Is it “having” to do something? (although, I set this goal with free will, you know) Is it the monotonous pattern repeats of each frickin’ row?  Hmmm…

Instead, I’ve worked on these unneccessary lovelies:

Recycled green glass.

Some of the last “yarn balls” that I have.

I found bees in silver!

Blues….

And more blues.  These are ceramic beads, which aren’t really my usual “thang” (I’m all about the sparkle, ya know)….but I got these in the same shop as the yarn balls.  She (notice I’m not telling you who it is?) sells ethnic beads.  Always interesting.

But the blanket continues to weigh on my mind.  The shower is on the 22nd.  I think that’s next weekend.  What to do?  Give it to her half finished and take it home?  I don’t know her well enough, so that’s not an option.  (oh, does that remind me of Miss Fatima, at the Growing Place, who was Cole’s teacher in the 4 year old room – she’s an Iranian lady, very nice – always gets the rowdy ones – but one of her favorite sayings:  “THAT IS NOT OPTION!” whenever mayhem breaks out.  Sticks in my head).  So, “THAT IS NOT OPTION”.

am heading to Ames, IA tomorrow afternoon to visit my crafty buddy, Kristin, for the weekend. I’m either going to knit nonstop this weekend or give it up altogether.

**Still messing around with the macro mode on my camera.  I know the lighting is probably bad The lighting is bad , but I love that they are a bit clearer.   I even looked up articles on the internet on how to make an inexpensive light box, so that’s my next big project.  That, and maybe learning how to take pho-to-graphs.

And, finally, I’ve done a tiny bit of shopping on etsy, though not much because I’m trying to rein in the spending a bit:

Those yellow flowers are a bit bigger than I expected.

Have a great weekend, everyone!  I hope none of you are in the baby blanket dilemma that I find myself in!!!

At the end of Halloween night:

Boots on the wrong feet.  Chaps tucked into boots.  Bottom of Plankton costume torn.

But they still had fun.

I finally discovered where the macro mode is on my camera!

Okay doofus, you say, why didn’t you just look at your owner’s manual?  Let me explain.  I live with the possession nazi.  To actually keep the owner’s manual for future need would be, well, cluttery.  So, often times when we get some new item (and my radar is not up), things get pitched. (BTW:  My radar means I get a sudden urge to go through the garbage/recycle in the garage).

We got this camera at the same time we got our 52-inch (or something obnoxious like that) tv  — and since I started selling stitch markers on Etsy in April, I’ve been wondering where the owner’s manual is.  I’ve asked Craig but never gotten much of a response.  So, I’ve slaved and slaved trying to get up close photos that end up sometimes clear, but more often pixelated and slightly blurry.

Today I finally remembered to go to the Samsung website and research my camera (something I’ve often thought about but never had the camera on hand at the time my thought occurred hence the never actually doing it) and low and behold….THE MACRO MODE ACTUALLY EXISTS!  Everyone has been telling me that as new as the camera is, it should have a macro setting.

I HAD TO TAKE A QUICK SHOT ON THE TOP OF MADDIE’S* CRATE JUST TO TEST IT.  Not bad!

I – AM – SO – EXCITED!!!!

*We’re dogsitting my brother-in-law’s 2 dogs this week while he takes a honeymoon cruise with his wife.  Too bad there’s a hurricane that just passed over the Cayman Islands, where they are going!!!
