So, yesterday I was at the corner sandwich shop and the girl behind the counter said: “Can I help you, ma’am?”. I began to say: “Yes, I’d like the potato cheddar soup” and then abruptly stopped and said “Did you just call me “ma’am?”. Of course she didn’t mean anything by it. However, I told her I was a little sensitive because my 39th birthday was coming up. And it came up today.
Yes, my birthday falls on tax day. Working in a bank trust department means that tax season is our busiest time of the year, so it’s always hectic (plus it’s also scholarship season, but that’s another story). I did get to take a bit of break from the office to pick up 7 antique guns from a customer’s house about 30 minutes west of the Bank, sign listing papers to sell the customer’s house and then to drive those guns to an antique appraiser in the suburbs. It was 60 degrees and sunny, so a nice day for a drive. But at the end of the day, I should have stuck to my guns (get it? ooh, bad joke) and just taken the day off. I could have gotten some down time in and I would have enjoyed the day more.
Craig was coaching baseball tonight, so I took the kids to Pizza Hut for dinner so they could cash in their “Book It” coupons and we stopped at Schnuck’s for a cake and then went home to catch the season premiere of “Deadliest Catch”. (Yes, I am a fan.) And that’s the birthday for another year.
My diet has gone all to hell – today I had 3 Dr. Pepper’s and 1 Coke. Not to mention a grilled ham and cheese on rye from Culver’s for lunch and greasy Pizza Hut for dinner. Not to mention popcorn and cake after dinner. Blech.
Lame knitting update: I am done seaming the sweater! I only have to knit the neck and attach the buttons. I was too tired to knit tonight. Maybe tomorrow.
